The discussion du jour at the office: awful things you did to your pets as a child. One guy, then 7, got his kitten wet, so he put the kitten in the dryer. (It lived.) The office manager at age 4 tried to teach her gerbil to swim, in the toilet no less. (It didn't.) At 5, I left my goldfish bowl outside so the fish could watch it snow. (They didn't.)

Go forth now, and confess: what awful thing (fatal or not) did you do to your pets when you were a wee one?
