A Trip Through Rural America

Having plenty of trepidation about crossing the Bay Bridge, esp now that there's a big hole in the retaining wall, I decided to go to the Delmarva Shorebirds game by going north, then taking back roads through the Eastern Shore and Delaware to Salisbury. This led to adventures, including a bridge almost as scary as the Nice Bridge, directional challenges, etc. but mostly it was a rare venture through a part of the world that's still very rural. Some thoughts (and if you live in a rural area, you may take offense, read at your own risk):

1 With apologies to Jeff Foxworthy: If the road you live on is named for you or an immediate family member, you might be a redneck.

2 If you're a man, and you have bigger tits than I do, for the love of pete please keep your shirt on.

3 If the flagpole in front of your house flies both a rainbow 'pride' flag and the Confederate flag, you are profoundly confused. Please get help.

4 What genius named a nature preserve 'Murderkill'?

5 Maybe that genius should have been called upon to name 'Pondtown'.

6 Apparently all rural homes must be either: cute, well appointed and maintained, surrounded by fields/orchards/pasture or garden and perhaps offering produce or livestock for sale; or a rundown, dirty shack or trailer with junk and weeds everywhere. If there's an inbetween, I didn't see it.

7 There has to be a better location for an equestrian center than 'Slaughter Station Way'.
