Random Thoughts on Weekend News Events

By some miracle, www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/baltimore-city/bs-md-tshamba-captured-20100613,0,1534921.story
But, seriously, from the cop's past history to their inability to find him after the warrant was issued, could the Baltimore PD and DA's office possibly have screwed this whole thing up any more than they did?

Speaking of screwing up, there's the story of the 7yo boy who has gone missing Oregon. The news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100614/ap_on_re_us/us_missing_oregon_boy mentions that his elementary school is located on the edge of a 300 foot cliff that drops into a river basin. WTF were they thinking, putting a school there? And while the article goes on about all the places they've looked for the kid, the one not mentioned is the river. Um, I think I'd be dragging the river day one. Of course, I wouldn't put an elementary school (or any school) on a cliff!

I also happened to catch most of Face the Nation yesterday, wherein they spoke to the governors of Mississippi (Barbour), Alabama (Riley) and Florida (Crist). The contrast between Crist and the other two was amazing. Barbour & Riley talked like election day was tomorrow and only oil rig workers were allowed to vote. Crist talked like he wasn't running for anything (although he is running for Senate.) Simply amazing, the crazy rednecks and then the sane guy.

Caught a tiny bit of the World Cup, just enough to hear a (British) announcer comment that the referee seemed to be 'fancying' a particular player. I think he meant to say 'favoring'. 'cause fancying is something else entirely...
