Am I remembering correctly that your mum has alzheimers?

I posted about a month ago (before we friended each other so I doubt you've seen it) about meeting Leslie Neilsen (the actor) at an event, who is suffering from alzheimers.

The only consolation is the patient normally forgets everything so their not upset long.

If I've got this all wrong sorry.
