(Hey, I just saw your comment because I refreshed the page. FYI, to reply to a comment so that they get it in their inbox, you need to click the little reply under their comment, not just reply to your post.)

I was so glad I wasn't watching it for the first time on BBCA because I never would have realized what they cut out. It was horrible! In the first ep, they cut out everything with little Amelia after the Doctor says, "I'll be back in five minutes". So him getting back down and telling her, "Trust me, I'm the Doctor" & smiling at her? Cut. The beautiful music with her running back inside to pack her little suitcase (where we also see the door behind her mysteriously shut)? Cut! Her waiting on her little suitcase? Cut!

Oh, also the whole apple thing with the smiley face was cut. So basically, for any Americans watching it, she meets the Doctor and then she's suddenly in her 20s (and the Doctor looks kind of like a jerk because he never responds to her sad "everyone says that" after he says he'll be back in 5 minutes). Bad editing! That took a lot away from Amy's character. After that, I vowed to avoid BBCA for watching Doctor Who. I shudder to think how they'll edit Luther.
