More Adventures in Moving
Spent much of yesterday in further service of Dan's move to the Netherlands. It turned out that Goodwill will only accept donations between 9 & 5, so I had to take the afternoon off to take the donations there. Or at least tried; just as I was about to leave at 1, the boss' wife showed up, parked me in, and then refused to move her car because 'I'll be just a minute'. Just a minute was almost an hour... At least, when I finally did get out of the parking lot I managed to squeeze in a few errands and treat myself to a Looney Tunes DVD Collection. When I got home, I saw the neighbor's machine shop was open and scooted over to see if they could fix my hand truck (sure could; took 30 seconds to do the fixing) and discovered they'd been having the same conundrum regarding Goodwill, so I offered to take their stuff with Dan's.
So Dan & Dennis arrived, and I hustled them to the machine shop to take on a load of formalwear leftover from a wedding, the resulting marriage lasted 2 weeks. Hauled the entire kaboodle to Goodwill, who fortunately took everything and without dickering. Left Dan & Dennis there and headed home to feed CJ, order dinner, and sit down...and Dan calls. Seems the custom built trunk he had for shipping his belongings to the Netherlands didn't even survive the trip from his apartment to Dennis' house, so Dan decided to poke around Goodwill. He found a trunk-type piece he wanted to try, but it didn't fit in Dennis' car, so could I bring the van over again and drive it to Dennis' place? Put my shoes back on, handed the money to the delivery guy on the way out the door and went back to fetch Dan and his new trunk, just in time to encounter rush hour traffic in our attempt to get back to Dennis' place. Fortunately that was it for me that day, as my shoulder was toast. Now I still have to load my stuff back into the van for a show on Saturday. Thrills.
Meanwhile my computer is still unwell, specifically, Explorer won't connect to any websites (there's nothing wrong with the Internet connection, Itunes & other programs still connect just fine) and the computer won't shut down, I have to unplug it from the wall for that. Researching fixes on the net at work today, since I can't get online at home.
