Football!

The weekend was crazy and largely football-centric, so here's the football portion of our program.

I sold out of all of my NY Giants and Miami Dolphins ornaments within an hour of the craft show opening Saturday. The Giants I can understand (how big's the bandwagon?) and I know I should've made more ornaments for them (made 6 more last night). But the Dolphins? WTF? Managed to move 13 Redskins ornaments as well. Good thing - I don't think anybody will want them this morning!

Sunday I was picking up dinner and they had the Pittsburgh/Dallas game on in the shop. The Steelers picked off Tony Romo and all eight of us said the same thing at the same time: oh, S***. Then we all had a nice chuckle over how unnatural it was to be rooting for the Cowboys. A couple hours later it was really unnatural - I was sore tempted to lob things at the television during those last moments. To quote Molly, "Son. Of. A. B****."

Then the Ravens took the national stage and ran with it. Literally. All hail Ed Reed! And the 70,000+ crazy people (yes, I'm looking at you, Molly, Chuck & Scott) who went to the game. It was freezing in my living room, for cripes' sakes, how anyone could get through an outdoor game at night is beyond me. The Ravens game was as enjoyable as the Cowboys/Steelers was execrable. We're going to the playoffs, wa hoo!

Speaking of, although the Ravens are just one game behind the Steelers and play them at home next Sunday (Game of the Year, easy) I can't help thinking they'd be better off winning the wild card instead of the division. If they win the division, they'll play either the Steelers again, or the Colts again, in the first game. No thanks. If they get a wild card, they would play either the NY Jets (or Pats or Dolphins) or the Denver Broncos in the first game. I'd like the Ravens in any of those matchups.

Last but not least - the office pool was pretty consistent this week. All of us agreed on 12 of the 16 games. Of the 4 games on which we split, 3 were played yesterday - and I was on the wrong end of all 3. Dangnabbit. Oh Carolina, save me from the cellar tonight?
