US Life On Mars

Watched it again last night, because the Mom didn't see it live. Even she thought that was really, really weird.

But as I thought about it, here's the kicker: if the resolution of the show had been that Sam Tyler was the subject of a mind-altering drug or virtual reality experiment in 2008/2009 which caused him to hallucinate all of this mess, would we have still hated it? Or was it strictly the whole 'space' thing that we're hating? Because personally, I would have bought 'experiment gone wrong' perfectly well if they hadn't done 'future in outer space' on top of it.

(You might want to put this behind a lj-cut for spoilers.)

I think...if I wasn't so attached to the original, I might have been willing to go with the space thing more. Now, I haven't seen the whole series, but in the bit I watched, the acting & just the way it was done was pretty cheesy/bad. It also had that Dallas/St.Elsewhere thing which I always find annoying. But, yeah, if it wasn't a remake, I might have liked the concept more I guess. I'm sure there are people around who loved it.
