...and it seemed way obvious to me that the 'good man' River Song killed was in fact, the Doctor. And, possibly, killed-no-regenerating-killed. But if that's the case, shouldn't they have been at least a little bit subtle about it? I mean, there's foreshadowing and there's what's more or less a huge honkin' spoiler.

Well, she's not back this season I don't think, so if its a spoiler, its going to be the long game. Or it could be the segue into the inevitable 12th Doctor. Or for that matter, we don't know how 8 turned into 9, she could have been involved in that in some way that even he was not aware of.
