Gonzai Goes To The Movies

gonzaiI know, shocking, yes? Last time I went to a proper theatre was October, I believe, to see 'Religulous'. Today we went to see 'State of Play' and remind me of exactly why I don't go to see movies in the theater.
It was a non-stadium seating theatre, so the tall guy sits in front of me and I never saw the left 1/3 of the screen. Halfway through I had to pee, badly, but didn't want to miss any of the movie. Where's the pause button when you need it? I swear everyone in the theatre had a bag of something and was either crackling or crunching. Half the people in there got up, got down, got up, got down, several times. All of them talked, and one couple behind me never shut up once, the entire movie, and all of it was about the relationship. Gag me, please.
The film itself? Pretty good. Could have stood a touch more editing but otherwise first class entertaining/thriller/mystery material. I don't always care for Russell Crowe, but I liked him here (all long-haired, unshaven, and fat, no less). I was able to follow the bouncing ball most of the film, yet didn't see the last twist coming. Throw in the Americana Motel (local landmark) and a hotel room so ugly it should have had the Winchesters staying in it, and it twas all good fun indeed.
