Show #2: Ridgely

gonzaiThe 'load in Friday night' thing was a lifesaver. There was a whole troop of kids more than anxious to help load in, I loaded the first cart and did nothing else. The kids did the rest. Woo-hoo! Took me half an hour to set up display and spent the rest of the time visiting other vendors I know. This is rare, both for me to see other displays and talk to other vendors other than those adjacent to mine. A nice change. No dogwalkers though. The weather was too nasty.
Saturday, I had Mom after all. She was supposed to babysit overnight, but evidently my brother forgot this and left tons of stuff all over the guest room, including the bed, so she decided to come home instead. We had the place completely set up in less than an hour and we both got to wander the show, where I was quite thoroughly trounced in a silent auction and she bought several Christmas presents. As for my booth, well...I didn't do badly. I made enough to cover me through next weekend, including the Bruce concert. But I didn't make my goal and was nowhere near the sales I made there the last 3 years. Sold a whopping one print (Jethro Gibbs) and one plaque, and I broke my own rule and accepted a $100 for the plaque, partly because sales weren't good and partly because I've had that plaque for over 3 years now. Everything else was ornaments. Did sell a fair number to folks who were amazed "you have one of that team". Sold 6 Towson ornaments that way. Need to make more of those. But Towson's the only imperative 'make more' this week. And as long as that $100 is legit (the legitimacy pen says yes, but banks don't always agree with pens), the finances are stable.
After, there weren't many kids available and the ones who helped me...it was more like trying to help and not succeeding. It took them forever to help me with one load and they crushed my finger in the process, plus there was a close call with someone's car. It was easier to do it myself, which I did after their parents decided they were leaving. Dragged it home, and now it's time to drag to bed.
