If the ground feels particularly cold this morning, it's because last night, for the first time ever, I watched a reality competition show. (I differentiate between reality and competition, because the way I figure it reality can include documentary, nonfiction, etc. and at least has a fighting chance of being watchable.)

It was, of course, Greatest American Dog, because only dogs could make one of these shows palatable for me. And the dogs did their job in that regard. I'm a fan already of Star and Presley. Star has an advantage in being a Brittany Spaniel, I do like that breed, and clearly she's a well-trained, loving dog. Presley, meanwhile, reminds me of the Muppet aliens, the really jowly ones that went around going yip-yip-yip-yip. I like his owner, too.

The owner of Star/Belle whatever, however, has got to go. Putting a dog fresh from surgery in a competition? She should be investigated for cruelty, not put on a show. What a self-centered...(&*%*&...and the poor dog's just an accessory for it's owner.
