Inauguration Follies

Mom gets to go to a viewing party with her friends today, lucky her.

As for here, the good news is, I've been instructed to find a good site to watch the inauguration so the office can gather 'round my computer and watch. The bad news is...they forgot. My computer doesn't have speakers. Looks like we'll be watching on MSNBC, but we'll be crowding into a cubicle so we actually have audio.

The Obama Song

So on my earlier post, I mentioned I was listened to Michael Franti's super-peppy, ton'o'fun song about Barack Obama. I'd never heard it before, and when the radio back-announced it, turns out I had the title wrong. It's 'The Obama Song', and it's available from Franti's web site, for free. Well...

Apparently, so many people were streaming the inauguration that we couldn't get a decent stream (and we have really high speed here in the office.) So we tried a 5", b&w TV. No dice. Wound up listening on NPR, which worked out just fine. Good speech. Nice & short. Leaves more time for drinking. (har-de-har). Really though, it was good and concise and to the point. The poem afterwards wasn't so bad either, and I'm not a poetry person.

Now That's What I'm Talkin' 'bout

It took me a few tries, but I did finally get Jim Leonhard's autograph. Getting autographs should always be that easy - I bought the autograph online, they lined us up inside the store (much warmer in there!), they added a second player (Jameel McClain), the players were on time, the line moved steadily, and getting your picture taken with the players was OK. Ironically, though, Leonhard and McClain came in the front and squeezed through the line to the front past me; and I didn't recognize Leonhard! He really is small (officially 5'8" 180) and the guy behind me said 'What is he, 17?' I did get a picture with him, and I told him about how I call him 'Mighty Mouse' - McClain loved that, he was practically giggling. I suspect the whole team will know about 'Mighty Mouse' in short order. But Jim said that's OK, I like that cartoon. :)  All in all, a very successful venture!
