Saturday Drips
Mar. 28th, 2009 10:15 pmIt's dripping out there, all right...
Got a rude surprise in many aspects in the morning, when I looked out the window and saw an overweight, rather slovenly man in a kilt - yes, a kilt - putting a For Sale sign in the next-door neighbor's yard. I saw too much of the guy, shall we say. And the neighbors were pretty reasonable and sane, unlike most folks in this neighborhood, which worries me about who'll replace them. Then the other-side next-door neighbor, who is the resident busybody, calls and asks me to find out what's going on. I thought that was HER job.
Took Mom out most of the day in her car, because she doesn't remember how to pump gas anymore. Yes, really. She was upset yesterday that she went to 3 different stations and the gas wouldn't pump. She had never lifted the pump handle. Oy. Anyway, once gassed, we went to Sears because I've narrowed down the TV choices to two and Sears in the only place with both. We looked over those two plus a couple other TVs, before Mom decided she wanted to just buy one and get it over with. Partly, I think, because Sears was willing to haul off the 165lb monstrosity presently in our living room. So we'll be getting a 32" 720 Samsung Wednesday. Looking forward to it. Went to Best Buy for the DVD player I've settled on, but they're sold out in the entire region and no date for the next shipment. Boogers.
Hit the library, hard. Mom knew half the people working and socialized away, while I blitzed several sections of the CDs. Checked out about 40 of them, which means I'm now maxed out on the library card. Part of a project I hadn't gotten around to blogging about yet. Maybe this week I'll get into that. At home it was a mini-Brisco marathon and Bill Maher. The DVD I burned of Maher was a mess - the file's fine, and the DVD player played Brisco fine, so I'm suspecting either the disc or the burning software. Yippee. Speaking of mess, I also suspect Salman Rushdie won't go on Maher again unless he's assured Mos Def isn't on with him!
