Ah, Yesterday

CJ woke me at 6am, again. Grr. Finished building the new media shelf and moved all of the DVDs onto it. Then tried, for an hour, to teach Mom how to use the DVD player. I've been trying to teach her for over a year now. You'd think I'd learn. I gave her Tenspeed & Brown Shoe for Mother's Day and she really wanted to watch it, so I tried again.

Then went to Alphabet Soup with Dave, where I went 11 for 12 on names. For me, that's really good. Game-wise, lost at everything. And except for Settlers, lost badly. The only new game I got to play was Rumis, not exactly a hard learn, but played Underground again and have a good grasp of it now. Went back home to find Mom managed to bollux not only the TV/DVD, but also the computer. Took half an hour to get the computer back to snuff, although the TV was an easy fix. Watched Who and SNL w/ Betty White (another item for Mom) before passing out.

Ka-BOOM

You probably heard that sound a few minutes ago when Obama officially announced Elena Kagan as the new nominee to the Supreme Court. It was the sound of right wing heads exploding.

I wonder what they'll hate about her the most? They're unlikely to bring up the one legit criticism of her, that she's never actually been a judge. Why complaint about that, when there's so much else about her to drive them up a wall? Being a woman? Being Jewish? Being from New York? Being liberal? And of course, the biggie that'll really drive them crazy, that she might be a lesbian. They're going to go absolutely bananas. I may have to give up on news entirely in an attempt to avoid the hate slinging.

FWIW, other than mild concern over her never having been a judge, I think she's an excellent choice.

Crap

It appears I've lost my credit card. No charges have been made since the last time I used it, but the restaurant didn't find it and it's not in the house or car. I think I can manage until they send me a new one, but I dread the inevitable months of automatic charges from accounts I forgot were automated being refused.

Pain in the ass.
