gonzai: (Checking In)
After much internal debate, I decided going to the con for 90-120 minutes then leaving for the funeral was ridiculous. Among other things, finding clothes appropriate to both a funeral and a convention is a wee bit difficult. And I thought maybe I could get a couple hours sleep out of it. I was wrong about that; CJ decided we should get up at 5.A.M. Yes, 5. The only reason I didn't kill her was because I had to potty myself. Tried to go back to bed, but she started up again at 6:30. I don't like her much right now.

So, off to services, then change into more con-appropriate clothes and head back to Shore Leave. Yippee.

No con-party for Gonzai. I worked eight straight hours in the art show, leaving the room only to use the facilities. Didn't even have proper food for dinner. So when I called it a day, I meant it. No parties, and no game room. Although the game room has been dead all weekend, few gamers and even fewer games. There's a library of maybe a dozen there. [livejournal.com profile] jslinder brought Dominion and we may play a couple games tomorrow, but that will probably be about it for gaming. The art show is more or less done now, artist pickup in the morning is it and several artists picked up today, including me. I agented for Theresa Mather and Charlene Taylor D'Alessio; I bring home one D'Alessio print and that's it. Sold everything else. Didn't sell a lot of my own, but my print of Abby Sciuto became my first ever auction item at Shore Leave. Started at the min bid of $15, wound up selling for $55. So pleased about that, although my overall sales were way down. (I brought no 3D art and less 2D than usual, so that didn't surprise me greatly.)

The funeral was very well attended, which rather surprised me as Rick had been very reclusive the last several years. (Reclusive as in, even his brothers didn't know where he lived.) I did get the impression most folks there either knew him many years ago, or were friends of Donny, the brother who organized the service. We met Rick's son Aaron and Donny's son Joe for the first time in over 30 years. But Donny was the only person there we actually knew, so we didn't stay too long.

One more day of con...but this time, I'm unobligated. Panel, games and autograph time!
