We've had a six foot artificial tree for 30 years now, and I hauled it out and upstairs and set it up in the living room Saturday. Mom looks at it and declares it's too big for her to decorate, we need a smaller tree. I take it down and haul it back downstairs.

We go to Michaels. Most of the trees are either 7' plus, or tiny ones. There is a 4 footer with white lights. She says she wants it. I manhandle the box into the cart. Then she announces she'd rather have one with colored lights. Out with the white light tree, in with a colored light one. Then she decides both trees are too mangy and she wants another one entirely. Drag out the colored one and put it in the entirely new one. Then she decides that tree is both skimpy and too small, she wants something bigger. I try not to strangle her.

We go to Target. She decides she does like a 4' white lights pine tree with lightly frosted needles, in a planter. I drag the tree into the cart. Then she sees almost the same tree, but 4.5' and on a stand. You got it, she wants that one instead. At which point I decide we're done. Certainly, my back was done. Take it home and I put it up on a piece of furniture. She decides she doesn't want the white lights and tries to pull them off the tree. They're attached, as it turns out, every eighth light or so. Spent another hour trying to put the lights back on.

Tree is not, as yet, decorated beyond the lights. But for the first time in my life, I hate Christmas trees. (Usually they're the one part of Christmas I really like.)

Well...if time permitted, I would. I haven't read a book multiple times since, college probably. There are 4 movies I've seen multiple times in the theatre, all in the last 9 years, and I've watched them several times on DVD as well. (That would be the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Serenity, of course) but there's so many shows/movies I want to see the first time and don't have time to see, multiple viewings just aren't in the cards these days.

Ravens rookie David Reed just returned a kickoff 103 yards for a touchdown. It's the longest touchdown in Ravens history. And he did it with, at one point, three Texans hanging onto him and one of those had him in a headlock. Good job kid!
