Writer's Block: You're my best friend

Probably my best friend was Mike, who was a few months older than I am and lived 3 houses away. With a rotating cast of other neighborhood kids, including my brother and Mike's niece, we were always working on something be it in a yard, a nearby park, or someone's basement. There was always something going on, until the county decided to send the lot of us to 3 different jr high schools and we fell out of each other's social circles.
Mike died of Hodgkin's lymphoma when he was 33. He left two kids behind.
