gonzaiLast evening started off well, with California making the right decision and finding a treasure trove of new CDs at the library. I love the library. Especially the free part.
Then it got funky. We have a huge backyard, and esp at this time of year, when we let the dogs out, they love to play and wander in the furthest part and might or might not feel like coming in when called. So when my mother's dog came in after 15 minutes but my CJ was missing, neither of us really thought much of it. Ten minutes later, my mother answers the phone (badly, I might add) and someone asks if we have a 'CJ' living there. Never occurs to my mother that he's talking about the dog . Once we get that straightened out, it seems CJ is a few blocks away from the house and she's trying to cross Joppa Road, a 5 lane major east-west artery. Meep. Two guys got out of their cars and teamed up to catch her, but not before she was hit by a car. The guys brought her home and told me she'd been hit. She didn't seem to be hurt, and the vet said to just keep an eye on her for 24 hours, but holy crow she scared the daylights out of me. Mom 'walked the perimeter' last night and couldn't find any holes in the fence (it's all chain link or privacy fencing, so CJ can't get out without a hole or break) so we're stumped as to how she got out at all, much less headed off on her great adventure. We'll check again tomorrow. But jeepers... CJ
