My Shoulder Has exploded

I type with one hand today, as the left one is strung up in a sling. Around 2am, the computer's backup battery system went nuts. Loudly. So Mom decides to come up to mt room and wake me to deal with it, except I'm both deeply asleep and lying on my left arm. When she shakes me, it scared the crap out of me and I sit up fast and hard, pushing up with the left arm, and my shoulder just explodes. Didn't get much sleep the rest of the night (took half an hour just to quiet the computer) and it's killing me today. I already had an appointment with an orthopedist next week, but they can't get me in any sooner. The boss thinks I tore a muscle and wants me to see a doctor, any doctor. But mostly, it just hurts, A LOT.

Oy. I've had similar things happen with my back. I take it you're trying an anti-inflammatory?

Took a lot of ibuprofen at the time & before work, and iced it, but it's really not enjoying sitting at a desk. I'm thinking I'll call my general physician once my desk is cleared.
