Getting the Message

While I'm sure Donovan McNabb is not wearing his parka today (it's a bit hot out) I don't doubt he's wearing the same expression he has in my icon. The message seems to be this:

Dear Donovan,

You are our starting quarterback. Our leader. The big guy. You are the one who is going to take us to the Superbowl. We have every confidence in your ability and leadership. The fact that we just signed an ex-con quarterback who hasn't played in years and has the popularity of a festering pus-filled wound is not a reflection on you. Really. We believe in you. Honest.

Besides the fact that Vick is, as you put it, a 'festering pus-filled wound', from the sounds of things they signed him to play WR, trick plays, and emergency injury backup.

In all fairness, the man did his sentence, paid his fines and took his suspension. I don't have to like or respect him, but I won't begrudge him the opportunity to resume his career.

I don't think he shouldn't get another second chance, but I don't see where I have to hope he succeeds in it. Frankly, I hope he crashes and burns.
