...not at all amused by that final scene, needless to say. Mom is heartbroken.
I see only one possible positive outcome wherein Neal does NOT kill Peter and they continue working together buddy-fashion the way we've already come to enjoy. My scenario is this:
Kate has been behind the whole thing from the gitgo. Peter has known this all along and has been conducting his own investigation while making sure Neal doesn't know about it. Peter has found Kate's accomplice (the man with the ring) and where Kate was staying with him. Peter has removed said accomplice from the action (I picture him tied up in a closet right now), borrowed the ring and is waiting for Kate to come home. The ring is his way of telling Kate he's already caught her accomplice and now it's her turn.
Geez I hope that's what actually is going on. Otherwise, I got nothin'.
