Because my 'net at home has slowed to down to what could be generously called a tiny trickle, and it was completely shut off at work. Take it easy on streaming the Obama speech folks, some of us have to work today!

Here's hoping McSame picks Ridge or Lieberman for his running mate. I would love to see the Republicans rip each other apart - and I'd really love to see a lot of them stay home in November. And not vote for Representatives, Senators, initiatives and referundums...you get the idea.

So this is what it's come to - the Ravens spent most of the game with a quarterback they signed at dinnertime the same night. It'll be a long season...but not as long as the Redskins' season.

Not all is lost in local sports - for the first time in their 17 seasons (all of which I've attended, often as a season ticket holder) the AA Eastern League's Bowie Baysox have won their division! They clinched first place last night, and will go to the playoffs for the first time since '97 on Wednesday.

More cool beans - Baysox personnel were named the EL's Pitcher of the Year, MVP, and Manager of the Year, and three of them were named to the year-end All-Star Team.

The only negative is that I only attended 7 games this year, when in the past I've been to as many as 60, and none on the road, when I've seen the Baysox play in every EL stadium. Maybe me staying away was the key to their success?

I've been pondering the pandering and I'm at a loss as to what McCain was thinking when he chose Palin for his VP candidate. (Unless Cindy was out of town and he was free to think with the little head instead of the big one). Uh, Hillary's supporters didn't just support her because she had two X chromosomes; 99% of them preferred her stand on most issues near and dear to them, esp on abortion. Precious few of them will vote for McCain simply because his VP has different anatomy than he does. And I'm sure a fair number of otherwise sure-to-vote hardline Republicans and evangelicals won't vote for a woman under any circumstance. The only other possibility I can think of for why he chose Palin is that he didn't choose her - Big Oil did, and we know where the money's coming from.

Of course, it may all become moot if Alaska's bipartison ethics inquiry finds evidence to impeach her.
