There's a lot of them...some of the obvious ones include 'Imagine', 'Eleanor Rigby', 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'Jungleland', 'A Change Is Gonna Come', et al.
So I'll talk about a non-obvious one. Everything But The Girl's 'The Night I Heard Caruso Sing'. The painful sadness of the initial verses ("I've thought of having children but I've gone and changed my mind/It's hard enough to watch the news let alone explain it to a child") suddenly replaced by hope and determination ("And if I only do one thing/I'll sing songs to my father/I'll sing songs to all the children"), it really floors me. It's not an easy to find song but it is an emotional gem.
