gonzai: (Bad Day)
[personal profile] gonzai

So, several days of MIA, mostly because of being too freakin’ busy or too tired from being busy to be on the computer. But also partly due to having a virus on the home computer, apparently acquired from a downloaded song. Norton ID’d it last night, saying it was a Trojan called ‘Wimad’ and that it was resolved…except that this morning I couldn’t open or run any program, the computer wouldn’t shut down without me turning off the power, and then it had a heckuva time rebooting. When it did, Norton itself was disabled. Swell. The offending song has been deleted and I attempted to restore the computer back to Saturday, but had to head to work before that finished so I don’t know if it worked. Checked Norton’s website from work, and while it mentions this Wimad virus, it also listed it as not affecting Vista. Uh huh, sure. Come on over and watch it affect my Vista. And of course Mom was going to do the Cyber Monday thing today, not any more she isn’t.

I’m also wiped from helping my pal Dan move yesterday. The powers that be apparently decided that the last day of the month must be as miserable as possible, so it was 42 and raining the whole day. Meanwhile, Dan lives in a 4th floor walkup. Joy. And he hadn’t gotten anywhere near finished packing, nor had he decided what was being given away, what was going to Goodwill (in my van) and what was going to his brother Dennis’ place. He had way too much to go to Dennis’, as Dennis drives a Sentra. That car filled up right quick. I managed to make it up the stairs maybe a dozen times before my body said no more – my knees and ankles were swelling and my stomach and lungs were distressed. But by that time the Goodwill had closed, so we settled on me just driving the van home. Dan & Dennis will come over tonight and we’ll try to get all that stuff over to Goodwill then. And of course the Ravens, who I didn’t get to watch, not only beat the Bengals silly, but my fave player, Mark Clayton, had a breakout game.

Back on Saturday, I got up early to drive 45 miles to the dog show in Howard County. Problem was, show was cancelled. It had been on the calendar just a couple weeks ago, so I didn’t check again. No idea why it was called off. So I went ornament hunting instead, needing 3 stores before I finally found the right ones at Arundel Mills. But I hadn’t planned to shop, so I didn’t bring my coupons and had to pay full price. When I did get home, I took Mom out Christmas shopping and tried to find new shoes for myself because the sole came off my primary pair the day before. Then I got to unload the van to make room for Dan’s stuff.

Thursday & Friday in a later post…
