Lots and lots of doggies this weekend. Took CJ to PetSmart Saturday to register her for Intermediate level training - there was a rescue organization there, and probably 30+ dogs up for adoption, plus over a dozen kittens. So many sweeties, so little time. Top of the pops for cuteness were a litter of mutts, just six weeks old and none bigger than my hand. Probably some beagle involved but other than that no clue, just adorable. CJ was so-so with both the people and the dogs, being polite or indifferent to some and snapping at others. Still, not snapping at everyone is an improvement.
Sunday morning CJ got a full manicure and a bath. She wasn't wild about either but now she smells much better. Went back to the store for class and found it to be overrun with puppies. Can't beat that. And CJ was uninterested in them. The class itself was full, 7 dogs, most of whom had gone through beginners already. CJ hit it off with a Boston Terrier puppy, Zoe, and they're already wrestling. She was pleasant to Zoe's dad, and to the pug parents, although she's not sure what to make of the pug yet. She may get along with the Jack Russell, Leo, too. But...she hated the husky on sight, lunged and barked at him even when he was on the other side of the room, and she was none too fond of the yellow lab, Buzz, either. Buzz' dog parents have no control over him whatsoever and have inappropriate leashes and collars for training. They didn't bring treats either. I suspect they never took beginning training, which is not good. And Buzz kept coming over to CJ and Leo and starting things, and his dogparents didn't try to stop him. I had to carry CJ to keep her from taking a piece out of Buzz. It could be a very long eight weeks...
