OK, I admit it, I'm old enough to remember Chuck Thompson. Met the man, too, a real gentleman.

But more on point, yes, it's war. I've filed a PayPal complaint against the Seller peddling unformatted Dr Who discs and he's filed against me. Just wait til I have PayPal, Ebay, Visa and my boss all after him.

What does unformatted discs mean exactly? Do they not play?

That's the nutshell - they don't play.

Different countries format DVDs differently and the UK's formats won't play in the US. So there's no point buying an import DVD unless it's formatted to play in the US. The Seller claimed these were formatted for the US (NTSC, or Region 1 formatting) but most of them weren't. When you put them in a DVD player, the player just says 'not NTSC format' and doesn't play.
