In the world of television, 9 times out of 10, a regular character in jeopardy is rescued, usually without serious injury, at the end of the episode. The other time the character is found, but already dead.

Last night, NCIS:LA tossed that out the window. Dom has been an obvious redshirt all season, but not only did the show end with him missing and no clues as to why, who, where, etc. but he never even appeared in the ep at all. He was gone before the ep began.

NCIS:LA is not a show I would expect to not go according to formula, but darn if they didn't. And they should get an ongoing storyline out of it to boot. Nice change.

Now if they only could have been Kensi somewhere else than DOM'S KITCHEN at the end of the episode (Y HELO THAR STEREOTYPE)...

Now see, I liked that. She wants to do something for Dom, but she doesn't know what to do. The one thing she's sure of is that some day Dom will come back, so she'll keep up his apartment for him when he returns.

And I can definitely understand it - I know the mental catharsis that comes with cleaning, and her preparing his place for when he comes back was very sweet.

I just...I don't know. G and Nate were doing paperwork, Eric was decompressing with video games he used to play with Dom, Sam was beating the hell out of something, and Kensi...was washing dishes. Once I saw exactly where she was it made sense, but it was a knee-jerk annoyance for that few seconds.

Until I saw whose apartment she was in, I was waiting for her to smash dishes in frustration!

Just caught up - minor spoilery so skipping some spaces..

You'd think instead of racing to the van from wherever they were, they would have arranged for local cops/medics who could presumably get there a lot faster????
