This That And The Other Thing

The whole Sarah Palin thing just gets better and better. What would the Republicans do if the Democrats nominated someone who'd tried to secede from the United States? And it's extra hilarious that the GOP calls comments about Palin's family 'liberal smears' - I think they've got the market cornered on smearing. This is getting so pathetic it's almost funny. Almost.
Outright funny - I spent last weekmainlining marathoning Season 2 of Dexter. I really don't recall LaGuerta & Doakes having been that tight in Season 1, but otherwise a very solid outing near-reveal. Interesting that Doakes sees Dexter for what he is...because Doakes is also a monster in a his own way. Plus it was very amusing to have my mother yelling at the television. It's rare for anything to get her that worked up, but she hated Rita's mother with a passion. When my mother applauds the f-word, something weird is definitely going on.
Went to the season finale of the Frederick Keys, in which everybody played! Well, OK, every pitcher seemingly got into the game, and the substitutions were coming fast and furious towards the end. But what had me seriously wondering about myself was that I picked up about 20 signed cards (everything I had) for free, then came home to find a text from Bruce at Dragon*Con - Edward James Olmos was charging $60 for his autograph. There's got to be a happy medium in here somewhere...
My brother's crab feast was Sunday. My Key Lime pies, um, melted. I don't know why. My banana bread, on the other hand, was a huge hit. Stick with what works.
Heard several songs over the weekend that I think simply must be vidded.
- 'Cathedrals', Joan Osborne: Grand, stately, emotive, needs something large and dramatic to go with it. Perhaps West Wing or Homicide.
- 'Man Out of Time', Elvis Costello: Definitely a Jack Harkness song.
- 'Highly Suspicious', My Morning Jacket: perfect for intrigue or action. I think Spooks would be a good fit.
- 'Did You Miss Me?', Lindsey Buckingham: my current favorite song, I just hope it gets used.
