gonzai: (Seriously?)
Normally I would blame a full moon, but there isn't one. So I blame the heat for all the crazy/obnoxious people calling today. From the person who insisted we were a health clinic(?) to the irate attorney who says he is going to file a complaint against me because I did not transfer him to the attorney he wanted to speak to (that attorney is somewhere on the Atlantic marlin-fishing), it's not even 2pm and I've had enough for the day, thanks.

Lessee...I forgot to take my pills. Most of them aren't a problem, but missing pain pills is a biggie and missing my allergy pill is definitely taking a toll. Mom told me on the way out the door I'm supposed to call her doctor. Will get back to that. Went to PT. Turns out I had the wrong time for it, which meant waiting around and then going into work even later. Decided to resolve this by going to Royal Farms and getting coffee for me and donuts for the office. The donuts were misfiled, as it were, so half of them aren't what I thought I was getting; in an attempt to pick it up, I put my thumb through a jelly donut (mess!) and oh yeah, I put them in the box upside down. Only I could screw up donuts.

The coffee was a bad idea because I was supposed to have heat treatments at PT. I think I lost a few pounds of fluid sweating and nearly passed out. Then there was the actual PT, speaking of almost passing out. My stomach still hasn't settled. Went to work and tried to get something from the closet, forgot the door was closed and backed into it. Doorknob to kidney, hard. Owies. When I finally had a chance to get past doing 3 things at once, I called Mom's doctor. She is on vacation. Until August. But I'm supposed to call her. Not sure who screwed that pooch but...fortunately they had another doctor review the notes and call me. There was even more going on than I knew about - they feel she has vision, anxiety and orthopedic issues on top of the rest. She's also supposed to be on six prescriptions - but she's getting only 3. I get to sort that out tonight. On the way back inside the office the door handle caught me...on the same kidney. I have major hurts, in many places. Please tell me it's 5pm...

Went round and round in circles with my mother and brother the other day, because after 3 months of telling her we were going to the gaming picnic this Saturday, she still told my brother we could babysit Saturday. And then she forgot about it and never told me. So now we're doing both - 10am to 6pm at the picnic, leaving that two hours early, drive home and babysit 7pm until sometime Sunday. Great.

Meanwhile, she finally saw her doctor today, with me bugging her to mention what I think is hearing loss and to request anti-depressants, No idea if she did bring up the hearing or the need for Prozac, but apparently they tested her for memory and mental capacity and she royally flunked those tests. They want her to stop driving, which probably is a good idea except that then I'll have to take time off work constantly to take her here or there, which won't do my attempts to try to stay employed any good. Joy.

That is, as opposed to being a volunteer/staff member attached to the art show. So far, the biggest difference is I worked all day at the day job (yuck) and snuck up back roads trying to dodge rain and traffic to get to the con in time for panels. I used to do that on Thursday, so I could help set up the show. Then take off Friday from the day job and work at SL all day. And, apparently, at least a couple of people showed up at the art show looking for me and left not only disappointed, but in one case scolded out the door for having the nerve to ask where I was. I didn't stay long today, besides being worn out, my tummy was distressed all day and the chairs at the con are killing my back. (Took all of 90 minutes for my back to rebel; in that regard, it'll be one long weekend.) But I collected some hugs - which is why I decided to go in spite of all else, I wanted to see my friends daggone it - and hopefully the guests will be worthwhile. And I'm not staying at the hotel. That's a good thing. It flooded last night. Both pools closed indefinitely, an elevator down and apparently a serious mold/mildew/stink issue downstairs and around said elevators. Ah, cons.

Oh, I've had some real winners. The micromanager. The yeller. The OCD case.

But the guy who emotionally and physically abused me for almost 10 years, sabotaged my attempts to find another job, fired me over the phone, contested the firing at unemployment and meanwhile hired a man for the same job at twice the salary has to be the grand prize. I didn't get revenge, per se, but when his lease at that office ran out, the landlords refused to renew it because he was so abusive of his employees, they didn't want his toxin in their building.

My hand has been bugging me the last few days, but this morning I apparently did it. Opening packages and cutting some things, then a long battle with some very tough staples in old documents. By the end of that, my hand was hurting...and the next thing I know, it's flame red and swollen to twice normal size. I spent that back half of the day only answering the phones. It's killing me. Ice packing it now...

I hate ants. Really hate them. Especially when they come marching in the office door right next to my desk and then proceed to crawl over my desk...and my arms...and my legs...

The office phones have flipped their collective lid the last two days. Every five minutes yesterday, an alarm code was sent to my phone by the system, which disabled ALL the phones and the fax and cut off any calls in progress, nor could we call out for over a minute after each alarm. After my supervisor spent an hour on her cell phone trying to get Verizon on the phone, she never did get help and the phones started cooperating again of their own accord.

Today, the phones have been doing the same thing at a MAX interval of five minutes. More often, they're doing them every 10 seconds 4-5 times, wait a minute or two, then do it again. Every time I have to clear the alarm codes from the system, record the code and the time, and turn around and do the next one immediately. Verizon was a buttpain again, but we finally convinced them something's wrong. We're supposed to get a tech later today. Can't come soon enough.

That is the question. Starting Friday night, I had what might have been a migraine, flu, allergies, exhaustion, some combination thereof or none of the above. I'm still not entirely past whatever it is/was, but I feel like I'm in a haze. As a result I didn't do a darn thing all weekend (well, ok, a couple really small things, but not the big to-do list I intended) including skipping the Baysox' Bark in the Park day for the first time in at least 5 years. I was feeling to hazy to drive that far, esp. with dicey weather. Still feeling it somewhat, but at work all the same as I kinda don't have any sick time. The cherry on top is the rainy season all week which has my joints achy-breaky. And stink bugs. I hate stink bugs.

Once again, every day at work feels like an eternity. Part of it is not having enough to do, some is the sleepy, some of it - no idea. But it's getting awfully hard to get through a week at work.

On the other hand, we get these lovely entertaining motions from nutso debtors. Like today's. 14 pages of handwritten 'huh?' with a nice whine, featuring a couple pages of why the trial judge is unfair, incompetent and a bad person. Cause insulting the judge always brings 'em around to your side. Not.

Listening to a car crash. Especially one which involves a lot of braking and skidding before the inevitable thuds. Eek. That's the bad part of having an office 75 feet from an interstate, we've heard lots of speeding and screeching just about every day but this is the first full-blown ka-blam. At least a dozen emergency vehicles, including 2 helicopters, so somebody was hurt. Hopefully the dummy who caused it (by trying to exit the interstate from the far left lane when the exit was on the right).

Uh, OK

Got a call today at work. Said Good Morning, (name of firm). The caller said "I didn't call you!" and hung up.

Er...you did call us. Eesh.

The stitches came out this morning (and I nearly passed out) but I dragged myself into the office all the same. I went for a few hours Friday and a half day today, the rest of the support staff went to Opening Day so coming in this afternoon was good for brownie points. Hopefully it won't wipe me out for tomorrow...

Just a note that I still exist, less the use of two fingers. I thought of taking a photo of my hand, but mom thought it was too gross. Kinda like a rotting cadaver with a half-assed stitch job. And the left shoulder isn't taking to the full time work well. No idea when I'll go back to work ot drive again, but I intend to try the gym tomorrow all the same.

But I am worn out, sore all over and tired of waiting for surgery day. I'm rather looking forward to the surgery because a) at least 3 days off work, maybe more and b) painkillers. My back & shoulders need the painkillers more than my hand at this point. All of me needs some time off. The more the better.

I also need combat pay for yesterday's gaming. Three straight games with the host's sister, who is...very weird and hard to deal with. And the first two games we were supposed to be teaching her the games. I finally get out of playing with her and wind up playing three straight games with someone even more difficult to deal with, because she's slow playing, stubborn as hell and absolutely must have her own way at all times. The host pointed out to me later that I'd only played two games with the second person. Well, it sure FELT like three games...

When not only did I never check my e-mail on Monday, I never noticed I never checked my e-mail. It was a Monday from top to bottom, home and work, no sleep, much pain and the highlight was finding out Mom was in a car accident...two weeks ago. And she left the scene of the accident, and doesn't remember having insurance. She finally fessed up yesterday when the police called to discuss her leaving the scene. Spiffy.

Turned out I received plenty of e-mails. Still catching up on them.

The work compie was acting up all day until it completely crashed. Seems it had a malware issue of unknown origin. After multiple scans, we still haven't found the culprit. Couldn't get much done this afternoon and had an ticked off office manager as a result.

Go to the gym. The FitLinxx system hasn't recorded my last couple of workouts, it wouldn't register today's, and I had a time getting it to take manual entries.

Come home. The new compie is generally decent, WAY faster than the old one, but it's objecting to a couple of the external drives for unknown reasons (they were fine this morning), it doesn't want to import my internet favorites, it accepts the wireless keyboard but not the wireless mouse, and while Norton told me last spring I can install it on 3 computers, now it's saying just one and therefore, not the new one.

I hate technology.

Busy, busy days for tired, tired me. I hate shovelling snow. I hate neighbors who shovel their snow at 2am. I've about had it with all these debtors who are convinced they have a consitutional right to not make their car payments, but can still keep the car. I made it to gaming last night, where the professional computer types conferred and concluded that my computer's motherboard is failing. Not surprised but didn't really want to hear that, either. I do want my mother to just let me pay the bills already, as she's a disaster in progress when it comes to her checkbook and the bills (she didn't pay the phone/cable bill for several months; I got that fixed hours before we would have been cut off.)

And now I find I'm not a Sagittarius after all. (Those who have experienced my stubborness will beg to differ with the astrologers on this point.) Evidently I am in fact a Scorpio. Whoopee.

Only had to work 2.5 hours today. First we had our 'holiday party', which consists of a meal at a high end restaurant on the office, then bonuses (somewhat higher than last years but not exactly earth-shattering), then we got the rest of the day off. Unfortunately I managed to miss the closing time at the bank (very long lunch!) so I went to the library instead, picked up some books for Mom and visited with some friends who works there. Then put away a ton of laundry and settled in. I do like the extra couple hours!
