Torchwood - The Good & The Bad
Jul. 26th, 2008 11:26 amHaving a very dubious time regarding Torchwood of late. My Mom's pal did indeed burn Season 2 for me, and I was stoked to start watching the DVDs last night...except they don't work. Yeesh. The discs don't work on either DVD player and didn't work in the first couple software programs I tried, before Windows Media Player turned out to play it. Sort of. The picture's not good and I hate watching on a 15" computer monitor.
Meanwhile, I sent my Torchwood art off to Comic-Con with fellow Browncoats to hopefully get signed. Bruce was there for Preview Night and first thing Thursday morning, so I figure he probably got signing tickets. (He won't be getting back to me until Tuesday or so.) The problem is I sent gifts of prints to all the actors as well, and in the case of John Barrowman I also sent a gift for him and Scott, some cocker spaniel art. What I'm hearing from San Diego is that John's handlers refused to allow anyone to give him a gift (!) I've heard of not allowing gifts during presentation, but during signing sessions? WTF? I'm hoping Bruce had the forethought to try and give John's gift to Scott, or Gareth, or one of John's family members, apparently they were all there. Evidently Gareth's line was much more relaxed so I'm sure that part of the program went OK.

Mmmm, Torchwood
Jun. 22nd, 2008 02:05 pmFinished the Season One DVD set last night (finished the eps Friday, and marathoned the Declassified disc last night.) All extras watched except the commentaries, I'll probably take a break and finish up Doctor Who and Band of Brothers before doing the commentaries.
Just what I needed, a new obsession! I read the Torchwood mags 1, 2 & 4 yesterday (3 is on order and should be here this week, 5 has been elusive at the stores but hopefully it'll turn up soon). Also went on a Torchwood vid downloading spree this week, half of which I lost, but found yesterday. They were accidentally saved to my 'Image' directory instead of 'Vids'. I think my fave vid at the moment is
vaeltaa's 'Cells', mostly because I seem to have acquired an Owen Harper obsession. I went into Torchwood all about Captain Jack and thinking little, if anything of the rest of the cast, and my initial impression of Owen from the art/cast photos was that he was one weird-looking dude, followed by my first episodes impression that he was a total prick. Things do change, don't they? I still like Captain Jack, and I still think Owen's weird-looking (the artist in me says mouth is too wide), but I've also decided Owen is smoking hot and the most interesting of the regular characters. Go figure, right? Probably some of it is that when it comes to fanfic/fanvids, etc, I've always had a preference for hurt/comfort or torture fic. Owen plays right into that (and yes, I do know about Season Two.) I guess my next stop is pic-spam/image collecting. I've already drawn Jack, but I want to finish my abortive first attempt at painting him, and do the rest of the cast, esp. Owen of course, so a photo-hunting I will go. Might involve myself in some other Torchwood art projects, and try to scrape up some Torchwood merchandise. Obsession is expensive and time-consuming!
