But I have a few extra hangovers this time. Wachovia is the office's largest client by volume, and we have no idea who owns them now. Neither do they. We have no idea whether the new ownership will keep or dump the departments we work for, or keep us for that matter. So there's that to worry about.
And the biggie - although the weekend went well dog-wise (CJ wore out Scott but no damage or serious injury occurred and Roxie was apparently quite the jolly little dog with CJ gone) it wasn't enough for my mother. Probably didn't help that virtually the first thing CJ did upon arriving home was to attack Roxie again. In any event, CJ is to be gone from our home, permanently, by Friday at the latest. :( I never stopped looking for someone to take her, but hadn't had any luck and now I'll have to turn her in to a shelter. CJ is my best friend. This is ripping me apart.
It's almost time for Eastern Media Con, I spent all of Rosh Hashanah packing (Jewish holidays can be very convenient if you're not Jewish) and I'm almost set, except for two big problems. By the time I finished packing, it was pouring down rain. So the van isn't loaded. Guess what it's supposed to do today after work? Rain. Getting things loaded without getting them wet will not be fun.
The other nuisance - EMC is having a 'Crazy Hat Night' Saturday and I announced I was going to wear my Jayne Cobb hat. (If you've seen Firefly, you know which one I mean.) I'd seen it lying around recently. So naturally - I can't find it for the life of me. Pretty much tore apart the upstairs and the basement looking for it with no results. And it's not like it's hard to see. So getting very, very frustrated.
Getting Caught Up
Sep. 17th, 2008 09:40 amThe good ol' federal government, they'll bail out anybody - except Lehman Bros. I'll bet those folks are wondering what they did wrong. Meanwhile we the taxpayers get to foot the bill for money managers mismanaging. Sigh.
Got Pushing Daisies and Torchwood yesterday. Love the PD packaging scheme, and I got it at Target so I got the pie recipe book as well as the set. The boss has already borrowed the DVDs, hopefully I'll get to watch next week. Torchwood looks like the 1st season set, except lighter on the extras. Probably start watching it tonight.
Didn't watch The Fringe a second time after all - we had one ep of Heroes S2 left, and I decided I'd rather watch that. So there. Very impressed with Sarah Connor Chronicles so far - they're pouring serious money into that budget and keeping the storyline up at the same time. I'll keep my fingers crossed for them.
The good news is I haven't been roped into moderating an orphan panel at

The Problem With Stairs
Jul. 29th, 2008 01:29 pmOther things bugging me...I still enjoy 'In Plain Sight', but is it just me or has Marshall almost completely disappeared from the show? And he's what really makes it IMHO. On 'The Closer', I hope this was an anomaly and they don't make Commander Taylor a 'nice guy'. I like him better slightly antagonistic to Brenda. I finally got around to working on crafts and such for EMC and Christmas, but couldn't find all the stencils I was using just a couple weeks ago. (Two hours of frantic searching later: they fell behind the desk.) 'Eureka' starts tonight, but I'm having trouble caring. It's enjoyable enough the first time through, but it doesn't hold my attention or interest once it's over. For the third night in a row, I forgot to do the laundry. Better do it tonight or clean clothes might be a challenge.
Eastern Media Con
May. 6th, 2008 09:57 amGonzai Gallery will be sharing a few dealer tables with Spacial Anomaly, and I'm sure I'll have a few things in the art show as well. Plus I'll likely wind up modding a few panels, etc. I must have had a good time there last year. Hope to see lots of fen there!
