The TV volume has behaved the last 48 hours. I don't know what was up with that. But that beeping noise is back, just a few hours after my latest fix. I can't even figure out WHAT is beeping, dangit. Meanwhile CJ needed just 12 hours to bust the newly reattched latches off the crate.

No wonder I'm watching Dr. Horrible.

Home from Farpoint, and kind of wishing I hadn't left the con. I'll get back to that.

The gist of things )

The original game plan for the weekend was a dog show Saturday and/or the World of Pets today. The snow scotched that. I'm glad I didn't go out yesterday, as apparently the driving was lousy and the other drivers worse. I considered today, but by the time I finished shovelling the driveway, my back & shoulders were killing me. We will not go into how tight and painful they are right now, but it's bad.

So instead I spent the weekend camped in front of the TV and/or computer. Watched all TV shows, and am fully caught up in that regard. Watched everything remaining on the DVR. Saw 4 episodes of 'Men of a Certain Age' - had to let Mom have the telly at some point. Also watched 'Iron Man', 'Aliens', 'Disturbia' and on '1408' now. Played a LOT of Ticket To Ride, mostly without success. But I did finish my drawing of Amy Pond, did Dr Horrible in his entirety, did half of Abby Sciuto, put away a lot of stuff and finally found my dog show tote, which has been missing since October. So not a total loss of a weekend, but I do miss my furry pals.

My shoulders are absolutely killing me. It hurts just to sit, but any kind of movement - like the kind I have to do to take apart documents or scan them - is just excruciating. And I have 4.5 hours to go before I get to try to drive with said shoulders. Ow. And my hands aren't much better. Ow.

Almost done my next drawing, of new Who companion Amy. Just needs a fresh look today in case there's something I missed. Probably should look at it on the computer, often things look completely different on the screen than live. I was going to do Abby from NCIS next, but, considering the guests at Farpoint, now I'm thinking Dr Horrible instead and Abby if I have time.

I am increasingly of a mind to go to the World of Pets Sunday instead of the dog show Saturday. More expensive and absurdly large show, but closer to home and critters of all stripes, not just dogs. But the art needs to progress first.

The biggest hazard for getting things done this weekend? Yup. Ticket to Ride. Played many, many games. Did not win many, but was second several times. Obsess obsess obsess...

Just a compilation of ideas from the telly this week...no spoilers...

Leverage - I'm ready to have Sophie back. Jeri Ryan doesn't offend me or anything, but she's not Sophie.

Castle - Alyssa Milano looks much better with a few more pounds on her and she's adorable with Nathan Fillion. Cute ep.

NCIS - the appearance of Tony's Dad was so pre-hyped, the actual episode was rather a let down. And it was often said Tony was disinherited by and estranged from his father, so the existence of a trust fund for Tony and the fact he and his father do, apparently speak on occasion, is kind of contradictory.

American Masters - enjoyed the two eps they aired this week, about two of my favorite singers, Sam Cooke & Marvin Gaye. Cooke was huge loss to the world. Not sure if Gaye was, given his chronic problems with drugs, but I'm grateful for what he gave us before he left.

Dollhouse - the show is SO much better the last several eps, the post-cancellation acceleration of the story has improved the show exponentially and it's bordering on too exciting/info overload. Too bad it couldn't have been like this the whole series. Looking forward to Epitaph 2, whenever they get around to airing it.

BTW, loaned Dr Horrible to my boss. He watched it, according to him, 20 times in the 3 weeks he had the DVD, so he broke down and bought his own copy. I find this all very amusing.

An Amazon delivery arrived yesterday with much lovely inside. Specifically, 'Children of Earth, 'Dr Horrible' and the game Dominion. I am very happy. Even though I spent 90 minutes trying to teach Mom Dominion with very little success. Ah well. If anyone's in the Baltimore area and wants to play Dominion Saturday night, I'm ready!

Oh yes - finally got a Leverage icon (Hardison!) and my hands are absolutely killing me, which is keeping me away from computers at present.

For the first time in years, the Balticon cookout was not rained upon. So it was also greatly underattended. Nuts. Those of us who did go had a grand time talking, eating (some serious steaks were grilled, yes Hal, I'm looking at yours), gaming and watching videos from the con. It's taken them years, but the gaming gang finally got me to play one. A card game called 'Dominion'. Bad move for them, though, although I finished next-to-last with 3 points the first game, I won the second game with 40 points. Not a bad turnaround if I dare say so myself. Capped it off with a showing of Dr Horrible - I liked it much more this time, with a dozen like-minded folks. 'twas silliness. And fun.

As expected, I didn't get to the Keys game. A tornado blew through the area during the precise time period during which I would have to leave in order to get to the game. As soon as it was too late to drive out there, the storm cleared out. *&%)(*&  At least tonight's Aberdeen game should be smooth sailing, no precipitation and not too humid. My next door neighbor Joan is going with me, her sister has been in the hospital over a month (probably won't be leaving, she's failing steadily) and I figured it was high time Joan had a change of scenery.

Mom was quite pleased with her birthday haul - a silly card, Seasons 2 and 3 of 'Sopranos' and a Sopranos guidebook to help her keep track. She intends to start watching tomorrow, although I suggested she might want to review Season 1 first. I haven't seen any Sopranos and I still know more about Season 1 than she does. She was also very happy with her dinner at Cafe Hon, although I was rather underwhelmed. If it had been a $40 meal, it would have been fine, but it was more than twice that, and everything I tried to order for dessert they were out of. But she was happy, so I'll live.

Saw Dr Horrible, and again, underwhelmed. Some cute bits and incisive quips, but not really all that.  Also watched Deadwood's first two eps, my first experience with the show, and we both liked it (aside from the language, of course.) Saw and liked '16 Blocks' as well.  Spent way too much money at Office Depot (why do I have to have a printer that costs $75 to refill the ink? Oh yeah, I'm an artist. Need the high-end gadget. Gag.) Most of the weekend was spent on the computer or wood-burning, and as a result, I think my hand is going to fall off. I kinda wish it would. It hurts.
