Or at least two rambunctious nephews are. We just got home and we are pooped. Things went fine, except for my brother changing his mind about half the stuff agreed to in the meeting with the attorney last month. His father-in-law has convinced him the attorney knows nothing about estate law, but the FIL does. Might be time to get my boss involved. Sheesh.

Birthday wise - my mother completely forgot about it. I did get the cake I requested and a card from the boys, plus a 'serenade' from the boys. But that was it. Oh well.

Today was better than yesterday, not that it would take much. We looked at houses, a couple of which were very nice, and we went out for my 'birthday' dinner. Since I haven't been much on food lately, we drove around until I saw something amenable, which turned out to be a sushi restaurant. Mom doesn't like sushi, officially, although I have gotten her to try it a couple times and she found it wasn't as bad as she thought. I figured she could have teriyaki. She decided she'd try a sushi roll, and I got an assortment of rolls, and she tried some of mine. She loved it, all but the Ravens roll ironically enough. I was perfectly happy with mine, but she was thrilled. So maybe I've finally converted her.

I got serenaded at work (poor Sky was scared) and I also got a chocolate cake and a crysanthemum turkey. Don't ask. My nephews just called and serenaded me as well, presumably the cat was afraid. But honestly, I've spent half the day sitting in traffic. Rainy traffic. Ah, what a day.

I'm busy all of next week, so we went for my birthday dinner tonight. Wound up at the same place I took Mom for Mother's Day, the Corner Stable. Awesome crab cake. Good shrimp. I am full.

Just got home from Mom's birthday dinner. I took her to a fairly new place near us that I hadn't even heard of before this week, 7 West Bistro. Mom plans to go back for lunch Monday. Yep, went that well. Place was huge, and the staff was extremely ready. Turns out there was going to be party there this evening, Mom counted the chairs and came up with 90. Big party. Anyway, Mom got her rack of lamb, I had crab ravioli and we split a shrimp appetizer and a chocolate/raspberry cheesecake. Excellent across the board, not unreasonably priced, and service was so smooth we did the whole thing in exactly one hour. Definitely worth a return visit.

Mom will be 70 next week. On August 2nd, no less. I've asked her if she ever thought her 70th birthday would be the 'end of days', as it were. She doesn't think it's funny.

Anyway, I've been amassing little things here and there to give her a birthday weekend. Dinner Friday with her favorite gamers and they're making grilled chicken for her. Taking her out to dinner Saturday and I've zeroed in on a new restaurant which features a large rack of roast lamb (her favorite). Got her Season 1 of Royal Pains (she adores the show) and Toy Story 3 (she keeps complaining she hasn't seen it). Got a birthday card decrying 'little mutts that get into your frosting'. Don't ask. But considering her feelings about CJ, it was definitely appropriate!

I was going to round out her weekend by taking her to some open houses. There's a pair of houses she really likes. They're a quarter mile apart. Turns out they're both open on Sunday. Perfect, right? Wrong. They're open completely different times.  And her friends are giving her a party Sunday afternoon, so there's no way to do the second one. Shazbot.

Went to work, nothing special happened, finished last night's dinner, skipped tonight's dinner because not hungry, now watching Dexter. No big deal of a day, but nothing out of hand either. Did treat myself to Haagen Daaz Bananas Foster ice cream though :)

Just home from dinner - went to the same place as last year, Bluestone ), and the manager actually remembered us from last year. Wow. I had almost exactly the same thing as last year - cream of crab soup, two crab cakes and dessert. The only difference was last year dessert was a spice cake with rum and molasses, and this year was a spice cake with bananas and toffee. Yum yum! And a crab cake left over for tomorrow's lunch. I gotta go there more often...

Oh, and of course, the boys won. And icon-man had an interception for a touchdown. Coolies :)

As expected, I didn't get to the Keys game. A tornado blew through the area during the precise time period during which I would have to leave in order to get to the game. As soon as it was too late to drive out there, the storm cleared out. *&%)(*&  At least tonight's Aberdeen game should be smooth sailing, no precipitation and not too humid. My next door neighbor Joan is going with me, her sister has been in the hospital over a month (probably won't be leaving, she's failing steadily) and I figured it was high time Joan had a change of scenery.

Mom was quite pleased with her birthday haul - a silly card, Seasons 2 and 3 of 'Sopranos' and a Sopranos guidebook to help her keep track. She intends to start watching tomorrow, although I suggested she might want to review Season 1 first. I haven't seen any Sopranos and I still know more about Season 1 than she does. She was also very happy with her dinner at Cafe Hon, although I was rather underwhelmed. If it had been a $40 meal, it would have been fine, but it was more than twice that, and everything I tried to order for dessert they were out of. But she was happy, so I'll live.

Saw Dr Horrible, and again, underwhelmed. Some cute bits and incisive quips, but not really all that.  Also watched Deadwood's first two eps, my first experience with the show, and we both liked it (aside from the language, of course.) Saw and liked '16 Blocks' as well.  Spent way too much money at Office Depot (why do I have to have a printer that costs $75 to refill the ink? Oh yeah, I'm an artist. Need the high-end gadget. Gag.) Most of the weekend was spent on the computer or wood-burning, and as a result, I think my hand is going to fall off. I kinda wish it would. It hurts.
