Drove me nuts, I recognized so many character actors without remembering where from. I did of course watch it only because of Alan Tudyk...whose role was quite miniscule...but I didn't mind the whole vampire hunter theory. No, what I minded was the fully constructed Washington Monument. Construction on the monument began before Lincoln took office, but wasn't finished until some 12 years after he died. Of all the things for me to fixate on...

That was alright. Well, either it was alright or I'm too tired to fully appreciate shiny goodness. Summer sure glammed up for this event! And Alan couldn't bother to shave. That's our crew. Interesting Inara theory. Maybe we'll get a second movie to learn about that. Or another set of comic books, at least. Some new content would be most welcome.

I exaggerate a bit - I left the Baysox game at 8:30 and while it was getting colder, it wasn't miserable yet. I'm told last night was not only cold, but the wind was blowing a lot. Thursday's game was suspended due to downpours. So tonight wasn't so bad. But my feet and back were killing me and I was dozing off with an hour drive ahead of me, so I boogied in the sixth inning with the score tied 2-2. This year's Baysox include two guys with the last name of Britton (not related), two guys named Figueroa (as related as you can get - identical twins) and three pitchers named Zack. Name game time...and I'm feeling very old again. Two players on the team were born after I was already in college and I'm older than the pitching coach. I must be a geezer.

Also stopped by the last Hollywood Video in Maryland, which is going out of business. They weren't in full sale mode yet but I picked up a couple things in the $4-5 range, including a couple Alan Tudyk flicks I didn't have and the timeless 'To Kill A Mockingbird'. And a stop by a game shop, they didn't have the accessories I hoped for but I did snag a copy of Ubongo. And now I'm home and nearly asleep, so off I go.

Generally speaking, I disapprove. And the latest in the line of 70's shows getting the reboot treatment is 'The Rockford Files'. But, it was my mother's favorite show, and, more importantly, they just cast Alan Tudyk as the police chief Rockford drives up a wall. Anything with Alan...is a good thing.

I took today off of work to tackle some errands and such. They're 98% done now and I'm dropping fast.

Back home now, as I'm not much of a masquerade person and certain of my muscles are engaging in protest against various things. Mostly my shoulders objecting to holding up a camera to photograph and film Alan Tudyk's presentation. But I have gotten a few things transferred to the computer to share.

On the left is the new Farpoint mascot, Sasha, with her Mommy [livejournal.com profile] aprilvalentine . She's a Schnauzer puppy, about 10 weeks old, and sporting a 'My First Farpoint' t-shirt. Very quiet and well behaved mascot, esp. for such a small pup. On the right is one of the best costumes I've seen at a con. The alien even sounds like the film critter. And believe me, it's a little unnerving when he comes up behind you!

I took a lot of pics during the beginning of Alan's presentation (spent the rest of it in line to ask a question) and this is my favorite. I printed out an 8x10 of it tonight to be signed tomorrow, time permitting.

Often, when I'm driving, I'll see a vehicle that, based upon the stickers, plates, and other decor, makes me think I really don't want to know the person driving it. Today I had the opposite reaction. I saw a car with vanity plates that read simply 'ART', an Obama sticker, and a WTMD sticker. I would like to know this person. I think we'd be friends.

On driving, the only thing worse than having your food go down the wrong way is having it happen when you're driving 60mph on an interstate. Very scary. (And I'm still coughing.)

Speaking of WTMD, they graced me this morning with one of the saddest, most beautiful songs ever written: Bruce Cockburn's 'Pacing the Cage'. I'm gonna cry.

Anxiously waiting for Farpoint this evening. I haven't seen Alan Tudyk in over 3 years. I wonder if he'll remember me. By name, probably not, but he probably will remember the gift I gave him at Spamalot. I hope.

Not particularly waiting for 'Dollhouse'. I can't seem to bring myself to really care about the show. I'll watch it, at least the first ep or 2, just because it's Joss (and because it neatly fills the space between Terminator & BSG) but it just doesn't interest me.
gonzai: (Yikes)
Um, yeah. They aren't kidding on the blood part. Mom doesn't care for BSG, but normally she ignores it. Today she walked out of the room. There was a particular point where I nearly did as well, even though I guessed (correctly) what was coming.

Spoilery Item )

So post-ep, we went to dinner, tried PF Changs and learned the hard way, that place is packed. And then watched many sitcoms guest-starring Alan Tudyk because I really needed the happy stuff. Meep.
