Oh, I could go on at great length on the huh?s and wha?s and that doesn't make senses.

However, right now I will settle for:

Where did this thing about James being sick come from? I don't recall that he was sick before going in the barn 27 years ago, and he looked fine walking out of it, but suddenly they're talking about how sick he is?

Then Duke telling Alma that only Audrey knows where the barn is, but then Duke takes Alma to the barn without any help from Audrey.

If Audrey and James have been in the barn together for 27 years, how does James not remember this/not notice when Audrey disappears for a length of time?

I feel like large chunks of the show were edited out for whatever reason and left what was still there incomplete. I'll save the ranting about what wasn't answered/what doesn't make sense for a later date.

That's It?

Lemme get this straight now - Syfy deep-sixed an ep of Haven and kicked the last two episodes back a whole month...because the setting was a 20th high school reunion? I'm not seeing the connection between somewhat older folk going back for a reunion and Newtown. That move really wasn't necessary.

Who would have thought the best thing Person of Interest could add was a dog? And not just because I'm an animal person, Bear is the perfect addition to the show.

Quote of the week, from Bob Costas on Sunday Night Football, after noting the Steelers would be wearing 1933 throwback uniforms: "As if the Depression wasn't bad enough."

Grimm had the world's best cliffhanger ending, ever, last week. (Not a spoiler) Fade to black, "to be continued", and then... "Sorry." Awesome.

Last Resort was cancelled. However, ABC is going to let them wrap up the show's storyline. Why can't all networks do that?

Haven. Lucas Bryant is damn fine. If he gained 10 pounds I'd have to...never mind. Meanwhile,

Boardwalk Empire.

Treme.

Watching some of the new shows...

'Last Resort' - There's a distinct need to suspend disbelief here. And I suspect that'll be necessary more and more as the series goes on. That aside, the pilot was pretty darn good. Characters on the board, established, plot arranged. And of course, Andre Braugher. Braugher alone is always worth seeing. I'll give it a shot and hope it doesn't run off the rails or get cancelled.

'Elementary' - Needs even more suspension of disbelief. Really, nothing about Sherlock, Watson or Aidan Quinn's cop makes any sense whatsoever. And I almost bailed when the show started with the shirtless Jonny Lee Miller. I don't like tattoos to start with and that many, that large? Ick. But with his clothes back on and hand-waving the premise, it wasn't bad. I sure as heck wouldn't want to hang around Sherlock, but watching his adventures might not be so bad.

'Revolution' - let me put it this way - it spent 10 days sitting on the DVR. Had plenty of opportunity to watch it, and I just couldn't get to it. So I deleted it yesterday. From what I'm hearing, I didn't miss anything.

And on established shows - Person of Interest and Haven both added dogs. You know I don't object to that.

Not that I watch SNL or actually care about the stuff, but I finally found Schweddy Balls today. One pint, hiding in the back of the freezer case at Safeway. As noted, I don't know what it's about, I just know that this ice creams annoy the hell out of just the sort of people who need the hell annoyed out of them. Anything I can do to contribute to the annoyance!

Meanwhile, I'm finally getting to Syfy's Christmas selections. (Haven't gotten to the Showtime selections of the week or Neverland, but we're getting there.) Eureka was FREAKIN' FANTASTIC. Instant vault to the top of the Christmas programming list. Although that means anything Warehouse 13 & Haven can throw at us will be anti-climactic. But seriously? If you haven't seen the Eureka Christmas ep, find it and watch. Most awesome.

A part 1 of course means a part 2. And I've got some spitballing to do regarding Haven.

The season ended over 4 months ago, so I don't think spoiler space is warranted. If you think it is, stop now.

OK?

First off, I have no idea/have not been spitballing the following:
1. What, exactly, the Troubles are.
2. Why they seem to be on a generational schedule (other than because Haven is based on a Stephen King story, and King does like his generational creepies)
3. What the deal is with the tattoo people.

What I have been pondering is Audreys, both real and not so much. The Audrey Parker who showed up in the final moments of the season? I figure that's the REAL Audrey Parker. The one we've come to know and love? She's Lily and Audrey...plus however many previous incarnations she's had. See, I figure if the Troubles are a generational thing, reappearing every 25 years or so, then their counterpart - Lilyplus - must also be generational. The reappearance of the Troubles triggers the reappearance of Lilyplus. Lilyplus balances out the Troubles until they are suppressed/disappear/what have you, then she also disappears. I'm thinking some form of hibernation.

When the Troubles turned up in the 80s, so did Lilyplus. When the Troubles were defeated, Lilyplus probably arranged her hibernation with Chief Wuornos and FBI agent Howard. Howard would take Lilyplus away from Haven and stow her away until Chief Wuornos contacted Howard to say the Troubles are back. Meanwhile Howard had selected an FBI agent of the right age/physically similar to Lilyplus - Audrey Parker - and followed her career in detail. When Lilyplus was activated, Howard planted false memories of her childhood and memories of the FBI work 'Audrey' had done. Then he sent her to Haven, which is where we come in. Something similar to this - an outsider protects the force of good until the Troubles appear, then activates her and sends her to Haven. When the Troubles are gone, she is sent away with a new outsider. The Troubles aren't able to find her in between episodes since she isn't around Haven.

And oh yeah, a lot of the Haven residents - including Duke, Dave & Vince, and Eleanor - recognized Audrey as being the same person as Lily. The older residents know what she's there to do, and are keeping their lips sealed, for the protection of Lilyplus and the town. Duke doesn't fully understand how Lily and Audrey are the same person, but he's intrigued by her and wants to learn what's going on.

And there are my thinky-thoughts for the day.

Yesterday was a weird day at work - our California counsel was in town and working in the cube across from me most of the day, so I actually had to do busy work all day. My hands did not like this. Then all the attorneys wanted to go out drinking after work. I didn't. However, I had found out earlier in the week that Mom had once again told Mike & Janine I'd babysit for them without asking me, or even mentioning it until two days beforehand. So I was able to get out of the pub crawling, as I had been, in the words of one attorney, 'nephewed'. We took the little guys to Applebee's, then came home and played Dominion until Clone Wars came on. The boys really like that, apparently.

The boys had us up early this morning, wanting to play more Dominion, then wanting to try 'Killer Bunnies'. But Mike had said they'd come back for the boys 8:30-9, so I didn't want to start another game. They showed up for the kids at 10:30. Then Mike decided to pick a fight with me over next week's crab feast - it's been on Sundays for 10 years, but this year it's on a Saturday and I made the mistake of asking why the change. He went off on me. Now...probably won't bother going. Mike has made it very clear over the past year that he doesn't like me and doesn't want me at his house, so gaming sounds much better to me than a day of abuse.

After they left, we went shopping - I went for shoes & slippers, wound up with several tops of various weights from July to January. Seem to have a lavender thing going. Then grocery shopping, a trip to the gym, catching up on TV (only Haven left) and now watching the Ravens pre-season game. (Just a very nice touchdown scored on 4th down by the Men In Purple. Awesome.) Eureka had another great line - James Callis' character was asked if he was hallucinating, he said yes, I see a tall blonde in a slinky red dress. Nearly put me on the floor LOL.

Tomorrow, back to the usual. I should go to the Keys game, as I haven't gone all year. But I'll probably talk myself out of it again.

After working out, I took Mom shopping all afternoon, getting her fully refreshed and reloaded on everything. Oh yeah, and a LOT of groceries, although we somehow managed to miss both the drink & pharmacy aisles. Confusing layout. Also refilled on dog food, where we met a litter of beagle mixes. Seems some arse dumped a pregnant beagle on a rescue, whereupon she promptly produced 9 pups. They're still trying to home some of them, although the pups are the size of their mum now. We kinda conked out when we got home. Haven's still having possibilities, and now we're into series 8 of Spooks.

Finished watching the new batch of summertime shows that debuted in the past week. Initial thoughts: 2 positive, 1 not.

First up, I didn't care for 'Rizzolli & Isles'. For one thing, the show was billed as female buddies. What was on the screen was the Angie Harmon show. Isles barely appeared. And I've never heard of 'buddies' who don't know the other has a pet. Throw in the fact that it's very difficult to write a medical examiner as an active investigator and I have to think the show will stay 'all about Rizzolli'. And, in that form, it's stock crime drama with nothing different to recommend it.

Second up, 'Haven'. I was so excited for this show, I forgot it existed until my f-list started talking about it. Oops. DVRed a rerun of the pilot to correct the error. And so far, it was an error to forget the show. The pilot was, of course, mostly basic character sketching and plot planting, but the show was well set up, a season-long story arc (or two) is ready to go and I already adore the newspaper guys. Looks promising.

Lastly, we watched 'Covert Affairs' last night. Was uninterested by the (nonstop) promos, but gave it a shot anyway. It's off to a very good start. Exciting but not nonstop/overdone exciting, the characters are well defined, and the chronic conflicts established. I'm gonna be an Auggie fan, I see that coming even if he doesn't. (Though I do find him a little too good to be true, given the comparatively short time he's had to get used to his situation.) The only thing I really didn't care for was the marital squabbling and spying between the two supervisors. Bleacch on that. Could be a good one.
