OK, whose bright idea was it to air two mindbending, WTF? series finales in 48 hours? I was still working on Ashes to Ashes when Lost was dropped on me. Up half the night working that one out. I have a theory, but I think it will require diagrams. Also finally got to the season ender of V and that had quite the twist there, too. Spoilers for V finale )
Then I come to work, except I can't. A truck, loaded with an MTA bus, has parked across the intersection to the street my office is on. No vehicles can get onto or off of the street. I spent the first 15 minutes of the work day sitting in my car blowing my horn at this moron. He pulls 20 feet further forward and people can access the street, but he won't do it. Jackass.

Final episode, some spoilers but mostly confusion )

V gets a second season? Seriously? I didn't think anyone was watching it. I'm good with it, as I'm curious to see where they'll go with it (and I'm not wedded to the 80s version).

Law & Order, original flavor, gone. Wow. Rather amazing that NBC would dump it for 'new shows' when they've proven rather conclusively the last few years that they can't produce a decent new show to save their lives. (They should take a long look at USA and start modeling themselves after that.)

Cold Case & Damages - clearly, both shows don't think they're coming back. The last few Cold Cases and the final Damages were all tying up loose storylines and/or giving characters promising new beginnings.

I have not watched the Supernatural finale. I was comatose at 9 last night so didn't even try. Tonight, honest.

Not even bothering to try to make sense of Ashes to Ashes anymore. Still watching, mind, but not trying to figure it out.

Back to work.

A Long Day

Oy. CJ is continuing with early wake up calls and non-stop yapping until I get up. 6am today. And as per the usual, I couldn't get to sleep in the first place last night. Took Mom out shopping for rugs, shower curtains & a welcome mat, then took her for Mother's Day dinner at Carabba's. She had her first cosmopolitan, which made her loopy and gave me sticker shock. I had a seafood cannolli (yes really, and it was quite good), a really first rate salad and we shared a fruit/pudding/cake concoction topped by a strawberry almost as big as my fist. Then home to build furniture. I've made a serious mess of my hands, back and shoulders between the shopping and the construction. Finally called it a day and settled in for telly, Bill Maher just finished and now it's on to Ashes To Ashes. Not sure I'll stay awake past it though. Needless to say I passed on the ball game, although the way the wind is blowing I wouldn't want to be sitting in stands today. Wouldn't want to be an outfielder either.

And I can't stop laughing at Glenister & co doing the 'Uptown Girl' video spot on :)  Great gag, if you saw the original vid. (Rather like the Psych 'Private Eyes' commercial.) I am just a little bit too much a product of the 80s, heh.,

Specifically: confirmation that In Plain Sight returns March 31, and the start dates (in the UK) for Doctor Who and Ashes to Ashes. 'cause I just don't have enough to watch *eye roll*

Here's what doesn't make sense to me: I visit England and understand everything that's said to me. I watch British TV all the time and understand almost everything they say, and almost always what they mean.

So what's my problem with 'Ashes To Ashes'? I know why 'Life on Mars' was a problem (Mancurian!) but I'm having a devil of a time understanding the characters on A2A. Alex I usually understand, Gene half the time, the rest of them - I have no idea what they're saying. Drives me crazy, it does.

From Law & Order UK - DS Brooks: "I'm fluent in illegible."

From Ashes to Ashes - Alex: "Are you playing with them?" Gene: "No, I'm just standing that way."

From Real Time With Bill Maher: "Republicanism is a personality disorder." - Naomi Klein

From In Plain Sight: Mary: "Another day, another dollar." Marshal: "You got a raise?"

Particularly in the 'I don't feel like I accomplished much' department.

I just had a wild and crazy theory on Dollhouse on [personal profile] sol_se 's LJ, but you can't do cuts on comments, AFAIK. Dollhouse theory )Elsewhere, Damages finale )

Last but not least, Ashes to Ashes returns April 21st! And just in time, we finished season 1 yesterday. Ashes to Ashes, Season 1 comments )
Last thought - we also watched 'Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day' last night. Wonderful movie. Very light and witty and in the end has something to say about life and love. And Lee Pace is gorgeous. Highly recommend.

For the first time in ages, I won a contested Ebay auction. My prize? The DVD set of 'The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.' Looking forward to viewing!

Part of why I bought Brisco was its unbearably slow downloading. Also superslow was 'Ashes to Ashes', but it finally finished yesterday and hopefully I can start watching it next week. I also downloaded 'soundtracks' for both A2A and the UK Life on Mars. Now I just need a 'soundtrack' for the US version, if the computer will allow. I'm having a devil of a time trying to find my music - over half of it no longer appears in my Itunes library (something that happened when I put in the newest version of Itunes) and a lot of it doesn't show up in Windows Explorer or Windows Media Player either. I have to use the search function to find anything. Annoying.

Goal for this weekend is to finish watching 'Leverage'. We watched 5 eps in the last 2 days. I'm really enjoying it - very fun and amiable, just don't think about it too hard. (Besides it not making much sense, it's too hard trying to figure out how they did what they did.) Still in love with Hardison.

Speaking of fun and amiable, 'Castle' was entertaining, but nothing remotely resembling art. I'll watch it if the VCR works (I have trouble staying awake past 10), but if the VCR decides not to tape, I'll live. Nathan Fillion is just adorable but it's debatable whether the premise will hold up for more than a few episodes.

No plans or intents to see 'Watchmen'. Graphic violence is not my thing and it's my understanding Watchmen has a LOT. Also, 'Sin City' made me sick, so I have no need for more of similar/same material.
